Sexual Assault Examination Course
Students who take this course are often required to already have
licensure as medical personnel. This online course works with students
to learn how to examine patients and corpses that have been sexually
assaulted and to work with the police to provide evidence. Students
learn communication skills, chain of custody laws for evidence, use
wound identification, use toluidine blue dye staining, understand DNA
samples and complete documentation. Along with the online training,
students are often expected to complete an internship for hands-on
experience.
Ethics and HIPPA Laws Course
Students discuss the laws and ethics of the medical field. HIPPA
requirements and laws are researched. Students learn about patient
rights and the transfer of information through HIPPA usage. Students
complete training through a number of online modules. Currently all
medical personnel and staff must be trained in HIPPA laws according to
the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
