Online Contract Specialist Course and Class Reviews

Options for fully online contract specialist training programs are limited. When offered they may be part of a broader degree or certificate program. Contract specialists are usually required to hold at least a bachelor's degree, preferably in a field such as business administration. Some employers may accept job experience or educational training in lieu of a bachelor's degree.

Overview of Online Contract Specialist Courses

Contract specialists examine contracts for adherence to company policy, as well as compliance with state and federal laws. Online courses may often be part of a broader degree or certificate program, such as paralegal programs. Contract specialists, or managers are often employed by, or work closely with the federal government.
The Federal Acquisition Institute (FAI) offers a certification program with 3 different levels of contracting training. The Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) also offers a contracting specialist internship offering contracting training for employment, specifically with the VA. The National Contract Management Association (NCMA) offers a certification program for those interested in working with the federal government, commercial businesses or a combination of the two.
Eligibility and requirements vary by program or course, but generally include a bachelor's degree, work experience and educational credits.

Course Requirements

Courses require a computer with Internet access. Students should also have a working e-mail address for communication and assignments. Message boards are commonly used to facilitate communications between faculty and classmates.
