Online Courses in Catering Management

Students interested in catering management can complete a Bachelor of Science or certificate program online. Many schools also offer individual online hospitality courses to supplement their on-campus programs.

Overview of Online Catering Management Courses

Some schools offer online Bachelor of Science programs in catering management. There are also a variety of online certificate programs available related to this field, such as meeting and event management and special event management. Graduates of online catering management programs may go on to own a catering or event coordinating business or manage the catering department of a restaurant or hotel.

Course Requirements

Students may be asked to complete online assignments that demonstrate their understanding of menu concept, food and beverage cost and budget, supply purchasing and storage, food service and site mapping.

Introductory Accounting for Events and Catering Course

This course can be completed toward the middle or end of a catering management program. Students learn to use basic accounting skills in order to meet a client's budget, order an appropriate amount of supplies, and provide payment to all personnel and vendors.
