Online Electrical Engineering Technology Training Information

Electrical engineering technology training is available online in the form of both associate's degrees and bachelor's degrees from different colleges across the United States. Because it is a technical degree program, some institutions are more likely to have hybrid programs that involve some on-campus time rather than a purely online program.

Online Electrical Engineering Technology Options

There are two main options for online training in Electrical Engineering Technology. One option is an associate's degree in electrical engineering technology, available primarily from some community colleges and 2-year institutions via online distance learning. The other is a Bachelor of Science degree, available via the same route from some 4-year institutions.
Because of the nature of technical degrees, there is often a hands-on component to the coursework involved, usually consisting of laboratory work. For online degrees this is sometimes minimized, but students may still be required to obtain their own materials for some classes. Some institutions might also offer only hybrid programs, rather than fully-online degree programs, requiring some on-campus time from students.

Online Electrical Engineering Technology Degree Structure and Format

Online electrical engineering technology classes function much like other online degrees. The structure of the degree and the amount of independent work required will depend on the college that offers it. Some degrees are designed to give students as much freedom as possible, with no solid deadlines. Others are very like traditional classes, with assignment due dates spaced throughout the class term. Many online courses have a due date at the end of a semester by which all work must be submitted, but leave the completion times of each assignment to students' discretion.
Online degrees are usually coordinated through a college's educational software, an online system to which students may log in from any Internet connection at any time. This education software usually combines forums, instant messenger and email communication with real-time testing and assignment grading capabilities. Some institutions also have web seminar or multimedia capabilities built into their education portal's capabilities, allowing students to communicate with instructors via voice or video.
