Online Beautician Courses and Classes Overview

Fully online beautician or esthetician courses are not always available due to the importance of hands-on training. However, some initial training and continuing education courses can be taken online. Most online courses do not have any prerequisites, however some states require licensees to have a high school diploma or GED.

Overview of Online Beautician Courses

Beauticians provide a range of facial and body care treatments at day spas or in their own businesses. An accredited program of esthetics courses usually results in a certificate fulfilling educational requirements for state licensing. Due to the hands-on nature of the work, fully online beautician training programs are rare. Continuing education courses, which are usually required by states for those currently employed in the field, are more commonly found online. Each state has different requirements for beauticians, and students need to make sure an online course or program will fulfill those requirements.

Course Requirements

Students will need access to the Internet on a computer with a DVD drive. A media player or the Flash browser plug-in may be needed to play videos and other visual demonstrations. Students may also need to purchase their own tools and beauty supplies. Some schools include certain supplies in the tuition and ship these items to the student's home.
